ABOUT THE PROJECT: A Dream Realized
On October 1, 2024, we launched the Magical Women Playing Card Deck on Kickstarter. Thanks to incredible support from the women-in-magic community and beyond, we hit our funding goal in just five days, turning a long-held dream into reality.
From Magical Women’s project’s inception in 2020, a custom deck has been a key goal. As our platform grew through YouTube, social media, and monthly features in VANISH International Magic Magazine, our vision became achievable. By June 2024, we partnered with graphic designer and hobbyist magician Kyle Leon to bring this vision to life, incorporating stunning artwork of four iconic 1800s Queens: Adelaide Herrmann, Minerva, Talma, and Anna Eva Fay.
In July, we unveiled the sample deck at the International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM) convention in Tacoma, Washington, where I also presented my lecture, “How Women Influence Magic.” That convention provided a perfect launchpad to generate excitement and create promotional content featuring top female magicians such as: Alexandra Duvivier, Cassandra, Gabriella Lester, Jade, Juliana Chen, Leah Orleans, Paige Thompson, and Rachel Wax.
Key influencers like Solange Kardinaly and Ekaterina championed the project on their social media, while invaluable advice from Shawn Farquhar and Erik Casey of Casey’s Playing Card Company guided us through the Kickstarter and card publishing process. Additionally, Paul Romhany and VANISH magazine offered unwavering support, proving it truly takes a magical community to make dreams come true.
With the decks—including the First Edition Limited Deluxe Version with red foil edges—set to arrive by late December 2024 and shipping by mid-January 2025, we are thrilled to bring this project to our supporters. Thank you for helping us write this exciting new chapter in magical history!
