There is no clear, concise definition of a truly magical woman, we come in all shapes and sizes and in many cases, we bring very diverse skill sets and goals to the table. My objective with these talks is to try to talk to document as many magical guests as I can with as many different specialties and perspectives as possible. Today’s guest is an example of just that.
Lupe Nielsen taught her first magic trick at age 4 in Panama, she continued to learn from books as soon she could read. Before she was in her teens, she had developed a thriving birthday party magic show business, with magic that was self-taught. She is highly intelligent, very clever and has a work ethic, drive and thirst to develop and learn that is the key to her success.
Her story is remarkable, she has superb closeup skills, a degree in theatre ?, she has demonstrated magic, studied magic, performed magic and builds and maintains a magic product line. Yes, you heard correctly she, herself fabricates exceptional magic effects herself and she does all of these skills so beautifully and so understated it’s easy to overlook.
Lupe’s partner and husband was magic legend, Norm Nielsen and together, for over twenty years, they attended conventions where Norm often was a guest star performer. They ran a flourishing magic product and magic poster replication business. Not to mention having one of the largest historic magic poster collections in the United States. Plus, Lupe is a magic historian as well. In short, she is remarkable, humble and she has provided insight, services and quality that cannot be matched. It is with true delight that I spoke with Lupe about her journey, struggles and successes.
